Lately, Kate Gosselin’s hair has experienced as many ups and downs as the reality show star herself. This week, the 34-year-old mother of eight stepped out with a cropped bob — a stark contrast to the shoulder-length extensions she’d been sporting courtesy of her 20-hour makeover from celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson back in early January. But while rehearsing for her upcoming spin as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, Gosselin stopped in for a visit to stylist Gibson for a new cropped do. But, she’ll go long again soon enough with another set of extensions for DWTS — nothing looks better during a sexy samba than long, flowing locks. Find out about Kate’s views on winning DWTS and more about her new life in this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now. Tell us: Do you prefer Kate with a short bob or her longer extentions?Blane Bachelor

When you think of Amy Winehouse, impeccable personal style might not be the first thought that pops into your mind. The singer, 26, is often seen in scruffy ballet shoes and jeans, along with her signature beehive — a look that has brought her regular mentions in the worst dressed lists. But there’s no doubting her street-smart reputation and cultural impact and one label has been ubiquitous in her wardrobe: British sportswear designer Fred Perry. Now, she has teamed with the firm, which is known for its Mod-style clean looks, to create a 17 piece clothing and accessories collection. Receiving the Winehouse touch are everything from the firm’s well-known the twin-tipped M12 polo shirt, the Harrington jacket, and the jumper dress. Capri pants get a “punk-inspired edge,” a statement from the firm Thursday said. “It’s Amy all over [DASH] sharp, clever, sexy, lots of attitude [DASH] but stays true to the Perry aesthetic and unrivalled heritage. and still remain instantly recognisable.” “I’m really excited,” Winehouse, who is working on her third album, said Thursday. “We’ve been working on it for a while and it’s great to see it finally come to fruition.” And the company’s managing director John Flynn added, “We have had a great relationship with her over the years as she has been a loyal fan and supporter. Amy’s sense of style and attitude to music and fashion pervades through this collaboration. We hope her fans and our fans will feel the same way.” – Simon Perry

Mad Men’s Don and Betty Draper, Roger Sterling and Joan Holloway will become the latest screen stars to turn plastic. Mattel, Inc. will release a Barbie Collector line of dolls modeled after the award-winning show’s leading characters. Each doll will be made from Silkstone, a material that resembles the look and weight of porcelain, styled in iconic 1960s costumes with accessories true to their characters. For example, the Don Draper doll wears a classic red-lined suit and comes complete with a hat, overcoat and brief case while the Joan Holloway doll, in a curve-hugging purple skirt suit, wears her signature pen necklace. Sadly, no signature cocktails or packs of cigarettes are included for maximum veracity to the show. The dolls, which will retail for $75 each, will be available at BarbieCollector.com and select retailers come July. And starting March 23, exclusive collectible sketches of the Mad Men Barbie Collector dolls will be included in the Season Three DVD box set. While many designers dreamed of creating Michelle Obama’s inaugural gown, it was young Jason Wu who nabbed the honor with his one-of-a-kind one shoulder ivory gown with delicate floral details. And today, the 27-year old designer stood next to the stylish First Lady, in a Prabal Gurung sheath, as his handiwork was donated to the Smithsonian to be a part of “The First Ladies at the Smithsonian” exhibit. Mrs. Obama praised Wu’s work as being “a masterpiece. It is simple, it’s elegant, and it comes from this brilliant young mind, someone who is living the American Dream.” And as for seeing her gown be a part of a museum exhibit, the First Lady admitted to being just a little flustered by the attention to her wardrobe. “And I have to say, to be honest, I am very honored and very humbled, but I have to say that I’m also a little embarrassed by all the fuss being made over my dress. Like many of you, I’m not used to people wanting to put things I’ve worn on display. So, all of this is a little odd, so forgive me.” But, she continued eloquently, “But, at the same time, I truly recognize the significance of this day. This gown –- and all of the items that we’ll see in this wonderful exhibit –- help us connect with a moment in history in a very real way.” And she explained that she felt connected to that historical day in her own life just by looking at her dress — for the first time since she took it off! “When I look at my gown –- which I, in fact, have not seen since the day that I took it off –- memories of that moment truly come rushing back.” And a thrilling moment it was, as she explained, “I’ll never forget the moment that I slipped on this beautiful gown. I remember how just luscious I felt as the President and I were announced onto the stage for the first of many dances. And I’ll cherish that moment for the rest of my life.” The new gallery in the “The First Ladies at the Smithsonian” exhibit, “A First Lady’s Debut,” opens to the public March 10. If Project Runway season four alum “almost fainted” when Meryl Streep asked him to design her Golden Globes dress, you can begin to imagine his ecstatic reaction to being tapped to design her Oscars’ gown. “I was thrilled and honored to get another call from Meryl,” Chris March tells PEOPLE.com. The always-charming designer and the Best Actress Nominee put their heads together to create the perfect, custom look for Meryl’s turn on the Academy Awards red carpet. “She was dying to wear two matching Fred Leighton Art Deco black and diamond bracelets, and wanted something white and Old Hollywood glamour to go with them. Her only requirement was a fabulously plunging neckline,” says Chris. “I worked on a classic but modernized silhouette [and] I think we really knocked it out of the park; between the hair, makeup, jewelry and the dress she is all over (and deservedly so!) the Best Dressed Lists. She is an absolute jewel!” We couldn’t agree more! We loved the outcome of Meryl and Chris’s teamwork and hope to see more in the future. Tell us: What did you think of Meryl Streep’s dress? Did it make your best dressed list?by Andrea DeSimone

The fashion spotlight may have focused on the ladies at the Academy Awards, but that doesn’t mean that Sandra Bullock, Penelope Cruz and Kristen Stewart were the night’s only scene-stealers. Hollywood’s leading men got suited up and ready to sizzle. But the question remains, which Hollywood hunk would you have wanted to stand beside as your Oscars date? Going the manly route, Best Actor nominee George Clooney balanced his elegant Giorgio Armani with longer hair and a little masculine scruff. Twilight’s famously bare-chested star Taylor Lautner kept covered in a perfectly fitted Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo (and we didn’t hear anyone complaining). And Jake Gyllenhaal supported his Best-Actress-nominated sister Maggie in a custom-tailored Burberry tuxedo. So many hot guys, this is a tough decision!Tell us: Which Hollywood guy do you think rocked the Oscars?

It looks like Lindsay Lohan might have a little more time to focus exclusively on her 6126 line of leggings and apparel in the days ahead. After months of tumult over her appointment as the artistic advisor for Emanuel Ungaro — and one not well-received runway show — the unlikely team appears to have parted ways. The actress was not present at the Ungaro fashion show today during Paris Fashion Week, and the brand’s owner Asim Abdullah told WWD backstage, “She’s not involved in this collection,” while declining to comment further. The actress quickly went from describing her catwalk debut as “pretty much a fairytale” to being bashed in the design world, even incurring the ire of the brand’s respected namesake founder, who deemed her first and maybe only collection for his former house “a disaster.” Tell us: What do you think of Lindsay’s possible departure from Ungaro?–Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester
