We were instantly intrigued when photos emerged of Beyoncé in Rio de Janeiro last week wearing a saucy, elaborately patterned jumper and headpiece on the set of her music video for “Put It In A Love Song,” her duet with Alicia Keys. Turns out the eye-catching garments were made by 26-year-old New Jersey-based designer Maya A. Lake of the label Boxing Kitten (which also counts Fergie, Solange, and Erykah Badu as fans), who is also responsible for the black and white halter top Rihanna wore in her recent “Rude Boy” video. Melina Matsoukas, who directed the Keys and Beyoncé video, called upon the designer for fun, sexy, bright clothes to match the shoot’s carnival theme. Keys and Beyoncé both wore Lake’s “Billie” jumper, named after legendary songstress Billie Holiday, while Keys also donned a custom made black and white dress, as well as the “Althea” skirt, which “comes longer in the collection and I shortened it because I thought it would be cuter for the video,” Lake tells PEOPLE. As for Rihanna’s graphic “Rude Boy” look, the designer confirms, “Rihanna is wearing a black and white bustier that’s completely custom.” For more information about Boxing Kitten, and to shop the current collection, visit boxingkitten.com. – Jessica Herndon

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has named Beyoncé as the official face of their limited-edition “Fashion For Haiti” T-shirt. The charitable tee features black and lime green graphics designed by Peter Arnell, who also created the CFDA’s iconic “Fashion for America” mended heart T-shirt that raised $2 million dollars following 9/11 for the Twin Towers Fund. As the spokesperson for “Fashion For Haiti,” Beyoncé has a message for all fashionistas: “Join me and the fashion industry by buying and wearing the Fashion for Haiti T-shirt. Together we can send a message of hope by raising much needed funds for the people of Haiti.” In addition to Beyoncé, fashion designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger and more are rallying to promote the $25 knit. The CFDA will donate the net proceeds from each T-shirt to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Look for the tee to hit shops and e-boutiques on February 16. Not only did Beyoncé come into the Grammys with a whopping 10 nominations, she walked out with six trophies in one night – the most ever for a solo female artist! But she didn’t stop racking up impressive numbers with her wins — the sexy singer changed no less than four times over the course of her celebratory evening. First, she hit the red carpet in a figure-hugging Stephane Rolland gown with intricate appliques, quickly changing into a gorgeous Atelier Versace leather dress for her roof-shaking performance of “If I Were a Boy” and the Alanis Morissette classic “You Oughta Know.” To accept her trophies, she switched into an Armani Privé dress covered in chains and accessorized with enormous Lorraine Schwartz diamond hoops. But she wasn’t done yet! The singer slipped into a revealing black Balmain minidress to party the night away with husband Jay-Z and famous pals like Jennifer Lopez. Now, we want to know which of Beyoncé’s four Grammy looks you liked best! Vote in our poll below.

The music industry’s biggest stars rallied for last night’s Grammy Awards with some impressive red carpet looks. Never one to disappoint, Lady Gaga showed up in one of the evening’s most noteworthy outfits, appearing in a futuristic, celestial-inspired dress by Armani Privé replete with sequin bedecked stockings and gem-encrusted platform heels. Beyoncé’s choice of dress (a plunging blush-colored, fishtail-hemmed Stephane Rolland gown with elaborate appliqué details), was more down-to-earth—though every bit as fashion-forward. Meanwhile Taylor Swift channeled a classic, old Hollywood vibe with a shimmering navy blue Kaufmanfranco gown and her signature curls pinned back in a soft updo. For more of last night’s highlights (including Heidi Klum’s va-va-voom gilded Emilio Pucci minidress and Rihanna’s feathered, high-necked snow white Elie Saab Haute Couture confection) check out our re-cap of Grammy Awards Style Stars! Beyoncé’s first fragrance, Beyoncé Heat, doesn’t arrive in stores until February, but the singer says her fans already love it — and she loves it, too! “I’m so happy with it,” the singer tells WWD. “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!” The singer took inspiration for the fragrance’s name from previous tours, explaining, “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat.’ Also, red is one of my favorite colors, as is gold.” The singer looked to the past for the bottle’s design. “I wanted something with an antique yet modern feeling,” she said. “Even with my wardrobe, I always try to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, yet still timeless and classic.” Beyoncé, who has been the face of Tommy Hilfiger’s True Star and Giorgio Armani’s Emporio Diamonds fragrances, said it was the first time she started from scratch on a project. “Everything, from the bottle design to the name and the ideas for the commercials–that’s me. When I commit to something, I do it 100 percent,” she said. Beyoncé Heat, with top notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach, will include eaux de parfum in three sizes, as well as a sparkling body lotion, priced between $39-$59. Look for it in department and specialty stores, like Macy’s. Read more about Beyoncé at WWD.com. Tell us: Will you buy Beyoncé’s first scent? –Kristin Larson

Not even a fashion heavyweight like Roland Mouret is impervious to the sartorial whims of a star like Beyoncé. Upon the songstress’ request, the Frenchman recently strayed from his signature body-skimming calf-length dresses and launched a rainbow-themed collection for net-a-porter.com with much more abbreviated hems. The designer, who also counts Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, and Demi Moore as fans, took time out to exclusively share his motivation for the shorter frocks with fabsugar.com: “In a funny way, the first one that did that for me was Beyoncé, this season where my length was mid-calf. She asked to raise the hem. I said, ‘you really inspire me, because it’s nice to see that kind of attitude.’” Though he admits the longer dresses were made for women who “don’t want to show the legs because they don’t like the leg,” the new series gives girls like Beyoncé plenty of opportunity to flash their well-toned gams. Is Lady Gaga abandoning her wacky fashion sense? No, thankfully, but for her video collaboration with Beyoncé, the zany dresser channeled the sexy and sleek style of the R&B pop princess — so well, she was nicknamed “Gee-yoncé” during the making of the video. Paparazzi photos from the “Video Phone” shoot show Gaga in an outfit that looks in line with Beyoncé’s sleeker style — a white strapless leotard, matching opera gloves and long, flowing hair. “When I was doing her video with her, she called me, and she said, ‘What do you want to do?’” Gaga revealed in an interview with New York’s Z100 radio station on Tuesday morning. “And I’m like, ‘I don’t want to show up in some frickin’ hair bow and be fashion Gaga in your video.’ I said, ‘I want to do you.’” In the same interview, Gaga said she just wanted to “do my version of Beyoncé, so the whole time I was learning the choreography they were calling me Gee-yoncé.” “Video Phone” is Beyoncé’s next single from the album “I Am…Sasha Fierce.” Gaga also mentioned that she and Beyoncé are working on music together, but did not elaborate on the details. We can’t wait for that to happen! –Kristin Larson

For her first U.S. tour, it looks like international superstar Kylie Minogue will be taking fashion cues from American music’s leading ladies. With couture costumes designed by Jean Paul Gaultier — the same designer responsible for Lady Gaga’s outrageous VMA looks — Kylie will hit the stage sporting glittering bodysuits and long, sequined trenches identical to these sketches by the designer. And considering the designs’ notable lack of pants and sparkle overload, we can’t help but think Lady Gaga and Beyonce! Tell us: What do you think of Kylie Minogue’s Jean Paul Gaultier tour costumes?

As the night’s fashion correspondent for MTV, Ashley Greene got to turn a critical eye on her fellow fashionistas. The New Moon star puts Beyonce, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift on her best dressed list. “In a night where silver, gold and black metallic minis ruled the red carpet, Beyonce stood out in her short red plunging [Roberto Cavalli] mini dress,” Ashley tells PEOPLE. “It was so sexy, yet completely tasteful at the same time.” And while many starlets went for sparkle, it was all about Katy’s mini by The Blonds for Ashley. “There were a lot of sparkly mini dresses, but Katy’s was my favorite,” she says.”The spikes rocked it up a bit and the fit was incredible on her body.” As for Taylor, Ashley admired her for channeling her inner princess. “Taylor looked stunning in her floor-length [Kaufman Franco] gown. I loved that she was one of the few who chose to wear a long dress — she looked straight out of a fairytale,” says Ashley. And, of course, Ashley loved her hunky New Moon co-star Taylor Lautner who walked the red carpet in a sleek Calvin Klein Collection suit. “He looked so handsome in his suit and I’m pretty sure all the fans agreed!” We definitely do! Competition in the celebrity fragrance market just got a little fiercer. WWD reports that Beyonce has officially signed a deal with Coty Inc. — the same company who is responsible for Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Paker and Gwen Stefani’s scents — to produce her own perfume. “For me, fragrance reflects a woman’s attitude and unique sense of style,” Beyonce told WWD. “While I love various perfumes, I haven’t found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance; one that’s reflective of my inner power.” And while this is Beyonce’s first shot at creating a scent, the superstar singer has fronted fragrance campaigns such as Tommy Hillfiger’s True Star in 2004 and Emporio Armani’s Diamonds fragrance in 2007. No details on what her scent will smell like, but Beyonce’s fragrance is set to hit stores this spring. We can’t wait to smell it — and see the ad campaign! Look out, Beyonce! Another Hollywood A-lister is a big fan of your man — or at least the way he smells. On a recent call with her best friend Gayle King on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Oprah Radio, Oprah Winfrey dished about her favorite mogul. “Jay-Z is my new best friend!” the talk show host said to Gayle while discussing her recent two-hour interview with him for her magazine, O. Admitting that she’s not a huge fan of his music, Oprah does reveal what about him does have her hooked. “He was so charming and delightful — and he smelled so good,” she says. “It’s the kind of thing where you hug a guy and the scent is sort of buried in them,” she explains. “When we went to the second location I could still smell him on me it was like, ‘oh my, this is wonderful!’” Jay has reason to take scent seriously. In addition to heading up music labels, a club, a sports team and the Rocawear clothing line, Jay-Z is also a perfumer, having already produced the scent Rocawear 9 IX. And next month Oprah — and all Jay-Z fans — will have even more reason to celebrate when he launches X Rocawear fragrance in celebration of the label’s 10th anniversary. Listen here to hear more of Gayle’s interview with Oprah. Then tell us: What Hollywood man do you imagine smells great?
