Supermodel Kate Moss celebrated the launch of her new handbag range for Longchamp last night with a fete attended by 700 of her nearest and dearest (including rocker beau Jamie Hince, natch) at the swanky Ritz Club in Paris. In a video posted on longchamp.com Moss says, “I love handbags. I’ve got a huge collection. Girls just like handbags I think.” The party was tricked out with wall-to-wall zebra carpeting and zebra print wall coverings, a nod to the lining inside the purses in Moss’ new collection—which also served as the perfect backdrop for the 36-year old’s glamorous color-coded black lace Valentino cocktail dress and cropped white jacket. Of the venue Moss says, “The Ritz Club is like my old haunt. It’s always been one of my favorite places to come, really in the whole world. If I was to have a party anywhere it’d be here.” Photographs of Moss’ satchels were projected onto the walls of the club, in front of a crowd that included French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld and other fashion industry insiders in town for Paris Fashion Week. Through a statement, Moss chats more about her designs: “You know, for a day bag, I like a certain kind of shape, and I love a clutch that opens like an envelope, and is flat, and so on. That was our starting point, and at every stage I would add my own personal twist,” and adds that “For me, a great bag should be comfortable, and it should be light.” Look out for the bags to hit Longchamp boutiques and Bloomingdales’ flagship in N.Y.C. on February 11th. Beside playing Gossip Girl vixen Georgina Sparks, Michelle Trachtenberg is working on her other career as an accessory designer, first designing jewelry for Coach and now teaming up with Botkier to create a purse for non-profit Oxfam International. At a recent dinner at New York City’s Stanton Social to celebrate the bag’s launch, the star tells WWD a bit more about what it’s like being the resident bad girl on the series: “It’s a fun role to play,” Trachtenberg said. “But the fashion is what makes the show so fun. The story lines are good, but the fashion is great.” Trachtenberg’s new satchel, which already made a cameo on the show last October, comes in smoky navy leather with gunmetal hardware, contrasting black trim and braided leather handles. The bag is available for purchase now exclusively at Shopbop.com, with 50 percent of proceeds going to Oxfam, though be forewarned: at $545, it would help to have a Gossip Girl-size clothing budget. Donating $1 million to Haiti relief was just phase one of Sandra Bullock’s philanthropic efforts: the actress has also paired up with Coach to benefit one of her favorite local Los Angeles charities: the Beauty Bus Foundation. The non-profit’s Co-founder and President Alicia Liotta explains the mission of Beauty Bus as being “dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for homebound terminally and chronically ill individuals and their primary caregivers. It is our mission to help our clients maintain dignity, treat them to human touch that is pampering and non-medical and offer respite during life’s difficult times. We also feel it is extremely important to service the caregiver, who are rarely recognized or rewarded for the vital services they provide to our most vulnerable citizens.” And now if you purchase one of Sandra’s two favorite Coach bags, either the Madison Leather Hippie or the Kristin Leather Tote, a percentage of the profits will benefit Beauty Bus — an arrangement that came as welcome surprise to Liotta. She tells PEOPLE that, “We learned of Sandra and Coach’s partnership to benefit Beauty Bus from Fortis Films. In fact, the project was put together by Coach and Sandra. It was an incredible surprise and is a gift to the Beauty Bus Foundation.” Sandra reached out to the charity last year after seeing a piece about the non-profit on local television and, Liotta tells PEOPLE that she and her production company Fortis Films “have been such a wonderful support. We are so grateful to Sandra and Coach for teaming up to assist us in raising much needed funds to continue identifying and servicing individuals in need.” Buy one of the Coach bags now at coach.com.–Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

If you ever questioned Christina Ricci’s versatility as an actress, her latest role knocks away the doubts as she stars as four characters in a just-released short film for Donna Karan. Created to highlight the fashion brand’s new Eldridge bag, which is equipped with modular straps and buttons so it can be carried four different ways, the film was shot on location at New York City’s Soho Grand Hotel, and is directed by 24 year-old newcomer Jake Sumner (who also happens to be son of Sting and Trudie Styler). “I have been a long term devotee of Donna Karan. This was the perfect opportunity for me to work with a wonderful new director, wear amazing pieces, be in New York, and make a cool film. It was really fun,” says Ricci, who is shown primping, dancing, and lounging in a hotel suite in a myriad of flirty cocktail dresses, spiky heels—and at one point, nothing but a skimpy black bra and panties. The company’s DKNY label is also getting in on the video action, with a short featuring the line’s Cozy wrap sweater in rainbow colors worn by an army of models parading all over the city, which you can see below. Kate Winslet might be the epitome of classic chic, but the British actress showed off her quirky side last week when she took to the red carpet toting a bespoke purse emblazoned with her very own initials. At the Bambi Film Awards in Germany, Winslet clutched a black Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati satin purse with “KW” embroidered in sparkling crystals. Worn with a classic black Collette Dinnigan dress featuring sequined shoulders and a sheer lace back, it seems the fun purse may have also been her lucky charm. The bespoke accessory was in fact a gift, given to the Oscar-winning actress by Pilati himself during award season earlier this year. Having won her Oscar in a Yves Saint Laurent dress, perhaps the actress thought her bag would bring her some magic. If so, she thought right! Nominated for best international actress for her role in The Reader, Winslet walked away with a heavier but no less dazzling accessory — an 18 carat gold and bronze Bambi award, weighing a staggering 3.6kg — far too heavy for that lucky purse but certainly one for keeps!–Monique Jessen

She’s already created a fashion empire of handbags, fragrances and hair extensions, and now Paris Hilton has a new addition to her style stable, with two more beauty products: The Celebrity Styler flat iron and Ultimate Brush. “There are a lot of products out there that don’t work, they’re a rip-off,” the star told PEOPLE at a launch event for the products at the Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills. “I wanted to make something that was affordable, that works. It’s fast, it’s easy and you don’t need a hair stylist.” Paris’s mom Kathy weighed in on why her daughter had the perfect skill-set to be a hair care success: “She’s a hair fanatic,” Kathy explained to PEOPLE. “That’s why with the Simple Life she decided to do those hair extensions, because she went crazy thinking ‘I’m going to be without a blow-dryer for four weeks!’” Sister Nicky concurred, saying, “She’s always loved experimenting with different makeup and hairstyles, so I think this product is a lot of fun for her.” Paris, however, admitted to PEOPLE an unexpectedly unglamorous side to herself. “I still am a tomboy. I love to go fishing. I love sports. I used to play ice hockey. You know, I think people only see the glamour and the parties, but when I’m at home I’m completely different.” Learn more about the Celebrity Styler, $60, and Ultimate Brush, $10, at Sallybeauty.com. — reporting by Pearl Barraclough

For anyone who wondered why fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld picked British pop star Lily Allen to be the new face of Chanel’s Coco Cocoon collection, he cleared it up for Elle.com. The Kaiser explained that he “loves Lily’s humor, her cheekiness, her talent.” And the fact that she’s cute doesn’t hurt either, with Karl citing “her little upturned nose, and her perfect décolletage.” The British starlet, a regular at Chanel’s fashion shows in Paris, has also launched a jewelry line and is slated to star in Neil LaBute’s new West End production of Reasons to Be Pretty in 2010. The fashion world is about to be dazzled by a new Versace It-bag — but this time it’s all in the name of a good cause. In the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Donatella Versace shares her newest charity venture: a bag created by children, to benefit children. “When you are successful in your life,” she explains of the impetus behind the new project, “you want to give back.” And when you’re Donatella, you do it with style. This past summer, the designer teamed up with the Art Unites program at the Whitney Museum of American Art in N.Y.C., where she met with dozens of youngsters who created pictures with a friendship theme on squares of canvas. Each of the resulting works of art (along with other submissions around the world) will be made into one-of-a-kind Versace totes and sold for $250 each, with proceeds benefitting Starlight Children’s Foundation and the Jet Li One Foundation. And of the over-1000 canvases that were submitted, two budding artists will have their works featured on the Versace runway this month!
